Brash, Bold and Brazen.

Two weeks of not having piano lessons makes me forget the harsh reality that my piano teacher is expecting me back next week with all my scales and whatnots memorized and perfected. oh cruel, cruel world.

That aside, I HAD A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Three reasons why i love the weekend:
1. Nicholas gets out - when he's lucky
2. I get to relax, unwind and enjoy
3. Relaxing and Unwinding with nicholas = awesome fun and the occasional embarrassing bus ride due to embarrassing company.

Highlights:
My long weekend started with thursday night after muaythai where we drove up to fetch nicholas from ocs. We relished a short couple of hours at my place listening to his stories, having cookie dough ice cream with my brother before sending him back home. My parents left for Hongkong the next morning (they should be on the plane now heading home), and i made yummy aglio olio pasta for my brother, myself and nicholas before heading to nicholas's place. We hit plaza sing with his parents and gran after lazing around at his place. On our to-do list were: get nicholas nice new shoes and belt, have secret recipe, catch jackie chan's diabolical new movie. Got the shoes, got the belt. Had thai express with gran. Ditched movie for renting The Big Bang Theory and enjoying it over chips and pretzels back at his place.
Lessons learnt: 1. Cheaper alternatives can be alot of fun. Renting a movie for example. 2. You can get decent belts at daiso. Wait. Make that you can get decent EVERYTHING at daiso. You can practically build a house with $2 daiso things.

Saturday morning was a pleasant one. Watched the guys play soccer at ccab before walking back to nicholas's place for a shower and heading out for dimsum buffet with nainai. Lessons learnt: 1. do NOT play soccer in heels. 2. one can still get canned drinks for $1! Dinner at nicholas's. Mass at his church. Back to his place for Schindler's List. Tried to watch multiple Oscar award winning Schindler's List, failed to watch multiple Oscar award winning Schindler's List, fell asleep instead. Note to self: 1. cannot watch black-and-white films with muffled half-german accents and chinese subtitles. It is mortifying. 2. Try watching Schindler's List again when not sleepy.

Sunday morning (and one of my earliest if i might proudly add) was fun. Nicholas went to church with me and we had an interesting discussion about the catholic and christian church. I dare say the difference boils down to style more than substance- to be put in a very general over simplistic way. Lunched at nydc at heeren and had a great time talking about everything... Note to self: 1. My mom was right, we never run out of things to talk about. 2. what on earth does nydc stand for anyway? Making our way back to his place was really funny. He asked me "What do you think of when i say (for example) lamp-post?" and we just started throwing words at each other like:

Jamie: bird?
Nicholas: a dove.
Jamie: an eagle.
Jamie: ... are you gay?

Nicholas: freedom?
Jamie: America!
Nicholas: The statue of liberty.
Jamie: ...which is so ironic.
Nicholas: i know right.

Jamie: bubblegum?
Nicholas: ...teeth!
Jamie: watermelon
Nicholas: what the.. why?!

Nicholas: okay, clothing!
Jamie: i see a huge closet with all kindsa clothes arranged by shades of colour.. you?
Nicholas: money. lots of money!
Jamie: whose?

And we did this all the way till we were home. And it was so hilarious to just look at the way we think.. why we thought that way, and what ideas we associated with certain things. One rough trend we realised though, was that nicholas would relate an idea that was usually specific of whatever aforementioned- like: car; ferrari enzo; US$160, 000; engine type. And my brain would somehow work the other way around, from the subject to general qualities or a larger idea it is related to - like: car; anything on four wheels that moves (i stand corrected but you cant blame me. unfortunately it is the first thing i think of); different colours; women drivers; final theory test (*hears jarring chord*). Lesson learnt: Nicholas thinks in a systematic, organized, concise manner. Jamie on the other hand, is just a scatterbrain. with an unbridled imagination. Maybe that's why we never run out of things to talk about!

In anycase, alas! the weekend has come and gone, and its a brand new week. Let's see what life has in store for me(:

Oh i love my life right now. (:

I just had lunch with my family at The Line at Shangrila and it was awesome! I swear i have never eaten so much in my life over one meal and i've amazed myself at being able to put away all that food somewhere in my body. Life has been exciting! Buzzing with action, with the few blank pockets of time just enough for me to soak in the fun and pamper myself.

Life's been pretty much work in the day and muaythai training or latin/ballroom lessons at night. Wednesday is read-a-book-day at J.co with doughnuts and tea. It was originally a plan for some alone time but i kept bumping into people over the past few weeks its been really funny. I even met Stanely, this senior from nj who'll also be going to london this september! Over the times we've met for me to help him plan his vietnam trip wth his army friends, we have already planned for the opening of our Singapore Cafe in London, for all the homesick singaporeans there to stretch out in a comfy place, relish a game of mahjong or two and enjoy meepok. :D

OCS family visit day was yesterday, and i went down with nicholas's parents and his army buddy to give him a surprise. We put in lots of effort putting together his "THE ULTIMATELY AWESOME SNACK STASH" -to be consumed with care and great discretion. yes, oreos keep you sane, people. I was surprised to meet so many people at safti mi though. My German German classmate serving singapore ns in ocs (?!?!?!), andrew, ernest, hsuante, trent, mirabella, xuandao, jo, wayne, and the list goes on. I'm really proud of you guys! Hang in there.

Oh and. Can i mention in passing, that the most hilarious sight of the day at safti mi was the ginormous sign outside a rather run down cluster of sad yellow buildings that read "HOTEL"? it took me a few seconds to realise hotel was a name of one of the wings they have there. Hmmm. those lucky chaps.

In any case, scuttle off now i must for muaythai training. Its about time i worked off my epiclunch anyway.

Things to do tonight:
1. Laundry
2. Learn to cook a dish
3. Pray for Nicholas in ocs
4. Practice stupid scales
5. Enjoy disney channel

ciao!
